A method, not tricks

Walker Prep's group courses in SAT Reading & Writing are taught by Dave Walker live on Zoom, in groups of never more than seven students. Three formats serve three circumstances: a Sunday open Q&A, a Wednesday guided-practice session, and a two-week intensive keyed to a specific test date.

Sunday Open Q&A

The Walker Prep Seminar

For the student preparing independently who wants a weekly line to the teacher.

A weekly open question-and-answer session: 75 minutes with Dave, Sundays at 4:30 p.m. Pacific. The students set the agenda — missed questions from official practice tests, a question type that keeps costing points, concerns about pacing — and Dave works through them with the group. Enrollment runs in terms of four, six, or eight weeks at $50 per week, includes the Method and the Casebook, and is limited to seven students.

The Seminar and the Practicum are companion offerings, enrolled separately. The division of labor is deliberate: on Wednesday, Dave sets the agenda; on Sunday, the students set it.

Wednesday Guided Practice

The Practicum

For the student who wants structured live instruction every week.

A weekly guided-practice session: 75 minutes with Dave, Wednesdays at 5:00 p.m. Pacific. Each session works through challenging official SAT questions spanning all seven major Reading & Writing question types — students attempt each question first; Dave then works it the way he works with his one-on-one students. Terms of four, six, or eight weeks at $80 per week, with the Method and the Casebook included; limited to seven students.

The Final Two Weeks Before the Test

The Two-Week Intensive

For the student who wants targeted instruction and guided practice as the test approaches.

A seven-session course across the final two weeks before a specific SAT administration — the Method concentrated on a near-term gain of 20 to 50 points for students scoring 590–670. Cohorts form for each test date; $575, the Method included, limited to seven students. The Intensive can be taken concurrently with the Practicum or Seminar.
