Sundays · Open Q&A · Small Group

A method, not tricks

A weekly open question-and-answer session in SAT Reading & Writing, held by Dave Walker live on Zoom — Sundays at 4:30 p.m. Pacific. Students bring the questions; enrollment runs in terms of four, six, or eight weeks and includes the Method and the Casebook. Limited to seven students.

01Overview

A standing appointment with the Method — and the students set the agenda.

The Walker Prep Seminar is a weekly open Q&A session in SAT Reading & Writing: 75 minutes with Dave Walker, live on Zoom, every Sunday at 4:30 p.m. Pacific / 7:30 p.m. Eastern. The students set the agenda. Bring the questions your preparation has raised — missed questions from an official practice test, a question type that keeps costing points, a strategy that isn't yet working, concerns about pacing — and Dave works through them with the group, the way he works with his one-on-one students, with the Cross-Examiner's Toolbox™ and the rest of the Method applied in real time.

Enrollment runs in terms of four, six, or eight weeks and includes the Method — Walker Prep's complete curriculum in SAT Reading & Writing — and the Casebook, the practice and analytics platform, for the length of the term. The curriculum supplies the instruction; the Seminar is where the questions it raises get answered.

02Who It's For

For the student preparing independently who wants a weekly line to the teacher.

The Seminar is designed for students scoring 570 and above on Reading & Writing who are preparing largely on their own — working through the Method, practicing on official materials — and want live guidance each week without committing to a one-on-one engagement. One student's question is usually several students' question: students who miss a question tend to choose the same wrong answer, so time spent on another student's question is rarely time wasted.

Students who also want structured guided practice — a prepared set of challenging questions worked through each week — will find it in the Practicum, the Seminar's Wednesday companion, enrolled separately. Families within two weeks of a test date should also consider the Two-Week Intensive, which concentrates on exactly that circumstance and can be taken concurrently with a Seminar term.

03The Session

Seventy-five minutes, every Sunday, on the questions students raise.

Questions may be submitted in advance, at least 12 hours before the session — privately, by chat on the Walker Prep student platform, or in the week's question thread in the Seminar's space — and questions raised live are taken in turn, so that every student is heard. A question that comes up inside the 12-hour window is simply asked live. Dave works each one the way the Method requires — back to the passage, through the evidence.

Sessions are recorded, with links to the videos posted to the Seminar's space for 48 hours. Students are free to keep their cameras off, and free to come and go within the session as their schedules require.

From the families
“I very highly recommend Dave for SAT Reading preparations. Dave has an absolute knack to help quickly understand the core logic and reasoning behind the various answer choices and how to approach solving the most difficult and confusing questions. He makes it so easy to logically find the precise answer choice without any guesswork or confusion. His process and methodology of coaching is thorough, organized and highly engaging. His coaching and guidance has been incredible and paramount for significantly raising our child's SAT Reading score in a very short period of time. Our child had initially self prepared and received a score of 670. We then started classes with Dave and within 2 months, the score increased to a 720 and then another month later to a 740 for a 70 point score improvement.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Operational policies and procedural details.

How do we access everything after purchase?

Access to the Method is immediate. Upon purchase, you'll receive instructions for logging in to the Walker Prep student platform at walkerprep.podia.com, using the email address and password created with the purchase. The Seminar's space — where the Zoom link, recordings, and announcements are found — is under Spaces in the left navigation panel; if it isn't listed there, click Browse, at the bottom of the panel just below the spaces list. The Casebook invitation, and the Word List invitation if you added it, follow by email within 24 hours.

How does my student submit questions?

In advance, at least 12 hours before Sunday's session — privately, by chat on the Walker Prep student platform, or in the week's question thread in the Seminar's space, whichever the student prefers. A question that comes up inside the 12-hour window is simply asked live in the session, where questions are taken in turn.

What if my student misses a session?

Sessions are recorded, with links to the videos posted to the Seminar's space on the Walker Prep student platform for 48 hours. Group sessions meet once and are not made up or credited for an individual student's absence. Enrollment is for the term, not for a count of sessions, so the recording is the safety net for an unavoidable conflict.

Does the Seminar meet every week?

Every Sunday. When Christmas Day or the Fourth of July falls on a Sunday — or on the rare occasion a session must otherwise move — the session is held the day before or the day after instead, with notice posted in the Seminar's space and emailed to the address on the account. If Walker Prep ever cancels a session outright, a makeup session is scheduled.

What happens when the term ends?

Access to the Seminar, the Method, and the Casebook ends with the term. Enrollment is first-come and seats are limited to seven, so a family wishing to continue should renew before the term ends — an expiring seat is not held. (Word List access, if added at checkout, runs its full twelve months regardless.)

What is the refund policy?

Enrollment fees are non-refundable. Access to the Method begins immediately on purchase and the term runs from that date, so all sales are final; families uncertain about fit are encouraged to begin with a single four-week term. In cases of genuine emergency — documented serious illness, injury, or displacement due to natural disaster — Walker Prep will, at its discretion, issue 100% credit for the unused portion of the term, measured to the day from the date written notice is received (email is sufficient), applicable toward any Walker Prep course or engagement and valid for twelve months.

Are sessions recorded?

Yes. Every session is recorded, and the recording is posted to the Seminar's space for 48 hours so that an absent student doesn't lose the session. The recordings serve that purpose alone: they are available only to enrolled students, and are never used for marketing or any other purpose. Enrollment constitutes consent to the recording of sessions, including the student's voice and anything the student shares on screen. Students are welcome to keep their cameras off — there is no obligation to appear on video.

Is there an age requirement?

Students must be at least 16 years old to enroll.

Is the Seminar right for a student scoring below 570?

The Seminar is designed for students scoring 570 and above, where preparation is a matter of strategy rather than foundational skills — the territory the Method addresses.

How is the Seminar different from the Practicum?

The agenda. In the Seminar, the students set it: the session takes up the questions they bring. In the Practicum, Dave sets it: each Wednesday session works through a prepared set of challenging official SAT questions across the seven major question types. The two are enrolled separately and are designed to pair — structured practice on Wednesday, the student's own questions on Sunday.

The Seminar is the standing weekly resource for the student preparing independently — the questions preparation raises, worked through with the teacher, every Sunday. A term begins the day a student enrolls.
