A weekly group session in SAT Reading & Writing, taught by Dave Walker live on Zoom — Wednesdays at 5:00 p.m. Pacific. Each session works through challenging official SAT questions across the seven major question types. Enrollment runs in terms of four, six, or eight weeks and includes the Method and the Casebook. Limited to seven students.
The Method, applied weekly to the section's most challenging questions.
The Practicum is Walker Prep's weekly guided-practice session: 75 minutes with Dave Walker, live on Zoom, every Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. Pacific / 8:00 p.m. Eastern, in a group limited to seven students. Each session works through a set of challenging questions Dave has drawn from official College Board materials, spanning all seven major Reading & Writing question types — Words in Context, Core Reading, Command of Evidence, Inference, Transitions, Standard English Conventions, and Rhetorical Synthesis. Every type appears in every session, so even the shortest term of Practicum sessions is complete on its own, and a longer term consolidates mastery.
Students try each question first, applying the Method on their own; then Dave works it the way he does with his one-on-one students — back to the passage, through the evidence, with the Cross-Examiner's Toolbox™ and the rest of the Method applied in real time. The Method supplies the strategies; seeing them performed live on a question the student has just attempted teaches what written explanation alone cannot.
Its companion offering is the Seminar, Walker Prep's Sunday open Q&A session, enrolled separately. The division of labor is deliberate: on Wednesday, Dave sets the agenda; on Sunday, the students set it.
For the student who wants structured live instruction every week.
The Practicum is designed for students scoring 570 and above who are preparing with the Method and want structured live instruction — a prepared session, every week, on the questions most worth a serious student's time — backed by the full curriculum and the practice platform, in a term a family can begin, extend, or conclude as the preparation requires.
Students who want a weekly open Q&A instead, or as well, will find it in the Seminar, enrolled separately. Families within two weeks of a test date should also consider the Two-Week Intensive, which concentrates on exactly that circumstance and can be taken alongside a Practicum term or after one.
A prepared set of challenging questions, worked with the group.
Each Wednesday session takes up a set of official SAT questions chosen for what they teach — common traps, complicating factors, novel setups, shortcuts worth knowing, concepts the test examines only rarely — and works through them with the group, question by question. Because all seven question types appear every week, no single week is a prerequisite for any other: whenever a student begins, what came before was particular questions, not particular lessons. The final minutes are reserved for Q&A — briefer than the Seminar's, but time for the questions the session has raised.
Sessions are recorded, with links to the videos posted to the Practicum's space on the Walker Prep student platform for 48 hours. Students are free to keep their cameras off, and free to come and go within the session as their schedules require.

“I worked with David for several months on the SAT English and Writing and Language sections. He was the exact tutor I was looking for when I was first starting my prep. He has created a method of approaching this part of the SAT that improved my score tremendously. He is the perfect tutor if you want someone who will show you and walk you through the exact steps you need to take to tackle all the questions on SAT Verbal. I am not and have never been a strong English person, yet through his help, I went from a 600 to a 740 (and was scoring 760s on practices). I went from getting 17 wrong on the reading comprehension to only 3 on real exam. He only uses the real tests, so all of his help was the exact material.”
From Walker Prep's one-on-one practice — the Method is the same whether a student works with Dave one-on-one or in a group.
In terms of four, six, or eight weeks, beginning at purchase.
$80 per week, in terms of four, six, or eight weeks — whichever best fits the student's timeline. Enrollment is first-come: seats are limited to seven, and a family wishing to continue past a term should renew before it ends, since an expiring seat is not held.

Access to the Method is immediate. Upon purchase, you'll receive instructions for logging in to the Walker Prep student platform at walkerprep.podia.com, using the email address and password created with the purchase. The Practicum's space — where the Zoom link, recordings, and announcements are found — is under Spaces in the left navigation panel; if it isn't listed there, click Browse, at the bottom of the panel just below the spaces list. The Casebook invitation, and the Word List invitation if you added it, follow by email within 24 hours.
Yes. The Seminar — Walker Prep's Sunday open Q&A session — is enrolled separately, and the two are designed to pair: Wednesday's agenda is Dave's, a prepared set of challenging questions; Sunday's agenda is set by the students.
Sessions are recorded, with links to the videos posted to the Practicum's space on the Walker Prep student platform for 48 hours. Group sessions meet once and are not made up or credited for an individual student's absence. Enrollment is for the term, not for a count of sessions, so the recording is the safety net for an unavoidable conflict. Because every session covers all seven question types, a missed week costs particular questions, not a unit of the curriculum.
Every Wednesday. When Christmas Day or the Fourth of July falls on a Wednesday — or on the rare occasion a session must otherwise move — the session is held the day before or the day after instead, with notice posted in the Practicum's space and emailed to the address on the account. If Walker Prep ever cancels a session outright, a makeup session is scheduled.
Access to the Practicum, the Method, and the Casebook ends with the term. Enrollment is first-come and seats are limited to seven, so a family wishing to continue should renew before the term ends — an expiring seat is not held. (Word List access, if added at checkout, runs its full twelve months regardless.)
Enrollment fees are non-refundable. Access to the Method begins immediately on purchase and the term runs from that date, so all sales are final; families uncertain about fit are encouraged to begin with a single four-week term. In cases of genuine emergency — documented serious illness, injury, or displacement due to natural disaster — Walker Prep will, at its discretion, issue 100% credit for the unused portion of the term, measured to the day from the date written notice is received (email is sufficient), applicable toward any Walker Prep course or engagement and valid for twelve months.
Yes. Every session is recorded, and the recording is posted to the Practicum's space for 48 hours so that an absent student doesn't lose the session. The recordings serve that purpose alone: they are available only to enrolled students, and are never used for marketing or any other purpose. Enrollment constitutes consent to the recording of sessions, including the student's voice and anything the student shares on screen. Students are welcome to keep their cameras off — there is no obligation to appear on video.
Students must be at least 16 years old to enroll.
The Practicum is designed for students scoring 570 and above, where preparation is a matter of strategy rather than foundational skills — the territory the Method addresses.
The Practicum puts the Method to work every week — official questions selected by Dave, worked live, with the full Walker Prep curriculum and practice platform behind them. A term begins the day a student enrolls.
